Type of installation: Grid-Tie
Location: Modimolle, Limpopo
We installed a 200kWp Commercial Grid-Tie commercial solar power system for this municipal building where multiple private businesses and governmental departments are situated.
There are many petrol filling stations and supermarkets. But in a small town… There is only one place to settle any municipal enquiries.
The public image of municipal institutions is not flattering… In this case, an effort was made to keep the municipal building open during business hours.
How many hours have you wasted in queues, waiting to be assisted? On many days, those who have been waiting a long time are turned back because of network issues due to load shedding.
For such a large building, and considering the budgeting constraints, diesel generators are impractical. Especially, when budgets run out halfway through the year.
Not only do the governmental departments have to close their doors during power interruptions and failures but there are multiple private businesses situated in the same building.
What would be the best option? For daytime operational hours, solar power is the obvious choice. They had more than enough roof space to fulfil their electricity needs through solar panels.
This means that they would save on monthly costs and ensure their doors remain open for public service.
And that is exactly what the 200kWp system does that we installed for them. Through years of experience, we ensured that the system we provided powered everything they needed to perform their work as well as amenities.
Power failures were no longer a problem and life returned to pre-load shedding conditions. Now, when loadshedding interferes with business operations and availability, residents of Modimolle can schedule their municipal visits.
Solar power allowed the municipality of Modimolle to establish trust and reliability through availability.
Solar power is about more than just electricity. It is about being able to serve.
