Powering Hippo Lakes Luxury African Safari Lodge with Red Energy’s Micro-Grid Solar Solutions
Since 2022, Red Energy has been collaborating with Hippo Lakes Luxury African Safari Lodge, situated in Vaalwater, to provide innovative micro-grid solar solutions that seamlessly blend with their commitment to sustainability and luxury.
Over the years, Red Energy has completed three installations at Hippo Lakes, each designed to enhance efficiency, reliability, and environmental responsibility and enhance its overall customer experience.
The installations at Hippo Lakes include a variety of solar solutions tailored to their unique needs. This includes:
– 5 x 25kW Grid-Tie systems
– A 144kVA + 245kWh Island System,
– and a 30kWp system connected to the Island.
Initially focused on savings, the objectives shifted towards backup and eventually moved towards off-grid capabilities.
One of the key features of the installations is the complete system visibility offered through an app, allowing for remote monitoring and control. This level of accessibility ensures that Hippo Lakes can manage their energy usage efficiently, even in the heart of the wilderness.
